Hello! My name is Amit Misra. I describe myself as an artist by birth, a physicist by education, and a lifelong student of languages and cultures.

I have done Ph.D. in Physics from Physical Research Laboratory (a unit of Department of Space, Government of India), Ahmedabad. Presently I work in the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. My work involves study of particulates in Earth’s atmosphere, called as aerosols, using ground and space based remote sensing.

I am usually called a ‘professional reader’, which is another term for book reviewer. I love books and review them on a regular basis; my specialisation is in non-fiction, especially popular science and arts. I am proficient in Hindi, English and Bengali languages, and have a basic understanding of German, Russian and French languages.

My other interest is in arts. I make portraits and drawings (realism) in pencil, pen and digital media. And I love playing harmonica.
