Hello! My name is Amit Misra.

I define myself as an artist by birth, a physicist by education, and a lifelong student of languages and cultures. As you might have already guessed, I am a native Hindi speaker, and English was a part of my school education. I learned German from Mrs. Deepaa Anandh, and French from Mrs. Shubha Karnick under the Foreign Language Programme of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India). In addition, I learned Bengali and Russian through my own efforts with help and support from native speakers of these languages. Presently I am studying Gujarati and Marathi languages and cultures. More than anything else, I am passionate about arts, especially, portraits and realism (please have a look at my art works). And I love playing harmonica🙂

Presently I work at the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. My work includes study of particulates in Earth’s atmosphere, called as aerosols, using ground and space based remote sensing.
